In The Spotlight

Shakewell – “Playafool”

Hailing from Montana, this six-piece funk band is a brotherhood of lifelong friends, who share a love for vintage grooves, live music and songwriting. Since 2013 they have shared the stage with fellow funkateers The New Mastersounds, Fitz & The Tantrums and The Wailers, showcasing their high-energy blend of funk, soul and rock ‘n’ roll. They released their self-titled debut EP in 2016.

Digging deep into the funkalicious sounds of yesteryear, their new single is an infectious bop, celebrating the glorious vintage soul jams. Opening with blazing brass, followed by a bouncy rhythm and some retro Hammond organ setting the funky scene, for the soulful vocals to dance over. And with the tantalizing horns and 70s-styled bass plucks, this is a vivacious piece of  funkadelic vitality.
