Elsa Marilyn – “Dancing In The Rain”

This 14-year young Australian singer and songwriter from Sydney possesses a passion for classic soul. Influenced by the likes of Aretha Franklin, she impresses with her seasoned melodies and soulful vocal delivery well beyond her years. Currently at high school, she’s studying piano, guitar and vocals. She got discovered by Bec Caruana in 2017 while singing Eva Cassidy’s “Songbird”.

Starting with a smooth rhythm and mellow piano, her debut single blends vintage soul with a layer of retro pop. With an infectious chorus brimming with catchy hooks from the punchy beat and soulful horns, it’s her rejuvenating and joyous vocals that elevate the sprightly melody to an exhilarated downpour, that makes you want to go out and just let yourself get absolutely soaking wet.

The Lionyls – “Voice Of Truth”

Hailing from Ottawa, this Canadian rock & soul quartet hit the music scene after winning the Big Money Shot contest of radio station Live 88.5 back in 2014. They spent the following three years honing their sound and performing at local festivals, showcasing their vibrant blend of R&B, soul, funk & rock. They released their self-titled debut album in 2017, followed by a national tour.

The second single taken from their sophomore album “The Lionyls II” embraces luscious classic soul with an energetic, funkalicious groove. With a distinctive Earth, Wind & Fire vibe, it’s the bustling beat, 70s-styled wah-wah guitar and blazing brass that forges its exhuberant danceability, while their perky, effervescent vocals give a vintage-dipped voice to the buzzing, mouthwatering funk.
