Based in Auckland, this New Zealand singer & songwriter wanted to be a musician since she was young. As a child she began writing little songs and later picked up a guitar to play them. She studied for a Bachelor of Music at the University of Auckland and draws inspiration from artists ranging from Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen to Robyn and Taylor Swift. She debuted with “Summer In August” in 2020.
Furthering her mighty fusion of retro elements such as 60s/70s folk, 70s/80s disco and a genre-spanning dose of indie-pop, her second single has an infectious sparkle. From the smoothness of the verses to the upbeat radiance of the chorus, this track uses scintillating synths and a buoyant beat to wrap her lustrous vocals in sonic sunlight and makes this a groove you will be talking about.
