In The Spotlight

The Hails – “Exonerate”

Although they started in high school, this Floridian five-piece band officially formed at the University of Florida in 2015. Consisting of Robbie Kingsley, Franco Solari, Dylan McCue, Andre Escobar and Zach Levy, they got their start playing gigs covering anything from Britney to Drake. Inspired by artists like Oasis, Frank Ocean and Radiohead, they debuted their eclectic sound on “Younger” in 2018.

Singing about someone’s frustration towards a friend, who didn’t follow your advise, their new single is lyrically relatable and sonically captivating. Kicking the song off with a laid-back AOR vibe from a mellow beat, fresh guitar and balmy keys, it’s Robbie’s sleek vocals that add a layer of indie-pop into the mix. And with a touch of nostalgia and a dreamy glaze, this jam is a glittery groove.
