In The Spotlight

Stella Angelika – “Loving That Girl I Hate”

Born in London to Greek Cypriot parents, this British singer and songwriter grew up listening to Greek folk songs. During her school days she was a part of a local gospel choir and wrote her own songs at home. A place at the Royal Northern College Of Music also introduced her to classical and opera. Inspired by Destiny’s Child, Lauryn Hill and Whitney Houston, she debuted with “Sleep” in 2017.

Dedicated to a partner who loved her, even when she wasn’t easy to love, her new single effortlessly blends vulnerable lyrics with a feel-good melody. Taken from her EP “That Girl I Hate”, she starts with heartfelt apologies on smooth guitar strums, before the song opens up with a jazzy, upbeat R&B vibe. And with her soul-dipped vocals stroking the luxuriant tune, this jam is opulent and warm.
