Willie J Healey – “Sure Feels Good”

Based in Bristol, this British singer and songwriter grew up exposed to the R&B and pop/hiphop his older sisters listened to, as well as the classic albums of the 70s his dad played. Initially pursuing a career in sports, he started boxing aged 10 and stopped aged 17, while continuing his music as a hobby. Inspired by The Beatles, Iggy Pop and Neil Young, he released his debut EP “HD Malibu” in 2015.

Giving a warm, sunlit preview of next years spring, before winter has even truly begun, his new single is a cheery, feel-good jam. Taken from his upcoming album “Buddy”, expected on March 23rd, he doused the tune with a touch of funk, Philadelphia soul and a dash of R&B. With a funky rhythm, soulful guitars and his Beatles-esque vocals, this sweet slice of sonic nostalgia sure makes you feel good.

Valerie Vonn – “Restless In The Dark”

Florida-born and New York-based, this singer, songwriter and producer grew up singing in church. Having music running through her veins thanks to her jazz pianist dad, she developed an affinity for blues, jazz, disco and soul. She’s trained her voice with professional opera singers. Likened to artists like Amy Winehouse, Paloma Faith and Florence Welch, she released her debut “No Heart” in 2017.

With an almost painful honesty in her empowering lyrics, her new single tells the story of a relationship in which being yourself is difficult. Starting with slightly medieval string plucks, this soulful song ascends to an imposing and passionate chorus. Joined by rolling drums, vintage guitar strums and stirring piano, it’s her majestic, blues-infused vocal power that shines a candid light on this sonic gem.
