Hayley Wallis – “Not That Serious”

Part of the Kitasoo/Xais’xais Nation, this Canadian singer and songwriter started singing at a young age, performing for her family and community. Now based in Vancouver, she balances her life as a young mother with her musical aspirations. She already amassed a fan-base by posting covers on YouTube. Inspired by TLC, Destiny’s Child and Whitney Houston, she debuted with “Coffee Cup” in 2021.

Reminding the listener the importance of life is to be found in the little things and not to take it too seriously, her new single encourages self-care and self-forgiveness. Taken from her debut EP “Halulu”, meaning butterfly in her native language, the track fuses the best of R&B, soul and gospel into an easy-going delight. With mellow keys, soft rhythm and crisp horns, this is filled with smooth grooves.

Jack Kane – “Something More”

Hailing from Hertfordshire, this rising British singer and songwriter got engrossed with music from the time he got his first iPod aged 7. Pre-loaded with his dad’s music, he discovered rock artists like The Eagles and Hall & Oates. He went on to perform on Barn On The Farm festival and opening for Paloma Faith. Inspired by Joni Mitchell and Fleetwood Mac, he debuted with his single “Ache” in 2021.

Telling the relatable tale of never being content while chasing the feeling of happiness, his new single is a modern indie-pop jam, dipped in a layer of 80s nostalgia. With a smooth synth shimmer and retro rhythm opening the door to his soundscape, inside you’re greeted with warm electric guitars and bouncy bass. And with his ear-stroking, velveteen vocals, this tune is something more.

Sipprell – “Wish You Were Here”

Born in South-London as the youngest of five and raised by a singer mom, this British vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist grew surrounded by an eclectic mix of musical styles. Proficient in piano, guitar and violin, she embraced the UK R&B scene. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Brandy, Solange and Anderson .Paak, she debuted her R&B/Soul sound on her EP “Letter D” in 2015.

Lyrically longing for a lost lover and mulling over what could’ve been or might even still be, if given the chance, her new single tells a very relatable story. Combining a deliciously smooth soulful vibe with a luscious 90s-dipped R&B layer, it’s the laid-back percussion, mellow piano and her enchanting and emotion-laden vocals that makes this magical melody sound full of heartwarming sentiments.

Carrie Baxter – “Selfish”

Born and raised in Waterford City, this Irish songstress grew up in a musical family. She started writing songs after getting a guitar for Christmas, which evolved after discovering electronic music. Now based in London, she joined Tileyard education to hone her songwriting skills. Inspired by Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse and Norah Jones, she debuted her jazzy, soulful sound on “Lady” in 2019.

Written a few years ago about not being able to leave a relationship, because of self-blaming or ignoring gut instinct that says things have run its course, her new single is filled with sincere honesty. Enveloping her words with a warm, acoustic piano and a perky rhythm, she forges an ear-stroking smooth soundscape. And with her jazz-infused, silky vocals, this tune is a selfless sonic gem.

Willie J Healey – “Sure Feels Good”

Based in Bristol, this British singer and songwriter grew up exposed to the R&B and pop/hiphop his older sisters listened to, as well as the classic albums of the 70s his dad played. Initially pursuing a career in sports, he started boxing aged 10 and stopped aged 17, while continuing his music as a hobby. Inspired by The Beatles, Iggy Pop and Neil Young, he released his debut EP “HD Malibu” in 2015.

Giving a warm, sunlit preview of next years spring, before winter has even truly begun, his new single is a cheery, feel-good jam. Taken from his upcoming album “Buddy”, expected on March 23rd, he doused the tune with a touch of funk, Philadelphia soul and a dash of R&B. With a funky rhythm, soulful guitars and his Beatles-esque vocals, this sweet slice of sonic nostalgia sure makes you feel good.
