In The Spotlight

Nick J.D. Hodgson – “RSVP”

Previously the drummer, backing vocalist and songwriter of the band Kaiser Chiefs, this British singer has searched and found a unique sound of his own. Since he left the band in 2012 he focused his attention to writing and studio work. He wrote songs for Mark Ronson, Olly Murs and Dua Lipa amongst many others and in Spring 2017 he started working on his debut solo album.

His new single, like the rest of the album, was recorded in his home studio in London and he played all of the instruments himself. The sound is influenced by 60s BritPop with a hint of folk and a touch of rock. Dipped in Beatles-esque tones, it has a perky beat, punchy piano and buzzing guitars, framing his breezy, multi-layered vocals. It’s a delectable slice of musical magic.
