In The Spotlight

Mike Andersen – “There She Was”

At the age of 12 this Danish singer, songwriter, guitarist and bandleader chose listening to raw blues and Motown-like soul over the popular music his peers were favoring. He started his own blues quintet The Mike Andersen Band and has released 6 albums and 1 EP with his fusion of blues, hot-soul, funk and pop, blending all his influences, from B.B. King to Donny Hathaway, into a fresh new sound.

His latest single is sumptuous blue-eyed soul with a happy-go-lucky, summery feel. Airy guitar strums and a finger-snap rhythm set the scene for the cheery, orchestral horns to burst out in a salubrious bout of majestic musical energy. With his joyful, soul-soaked vocal abilities effortlessly dancing over the harmonic sunbeams, it’s a catchy jewel of spirited summertime soul.
