War & Pierce – “Amen”

This Los Angeles-based duo met when a mutual friend, producer Jared Faber, thought they would have musical chemistry. The soulful Chris Pierce released 8 albums, played headline tours and opened for Al Green and Beth Hart. Sunny War’s style is a mix of punk and blues. She has remarkable guitar skills and opened for Madeleine Peyroux and Booker T. They debuted with “Any Day Now” in 2016.

Easing into this delectable amalgamation of imposing styles with Sunny’s spine-tingling guitar picking, their new single blends R&B and soul with a touch of spirituality. Adding some drums, bass and keys into the mix and a heavenly gospel choir, it’s Chris’ velvety vocals conveying the politically charged lyrics with a luscious, soulful flair, that tie all auditory elements together in a divine fusion.

Mollie Ralph – “Fella”

Hailing from Nottingham, this British songbird has played its most renowned local venues since 2016, including supporting the Gypsy Kings in the Royal Concert Hall. By night she dazzles on stage, but by day she shines bright as a community nurse for the NHS. Drawing inspiration from the soulful pipes of Amy Winehouse and the jazzy tones of Norah Jones, she debuted with her EP  “Old Café” in 2019.

Starting with an airy guitar and her narrative vocals, her new single shows its true infectious self in the chorus. Finding the balance between breezy pop and a touch of soul, she navigates the melody singing the relatable lyrics about searching for loyalty in relationships. The added exuberant horns take the vibrant energy up a notch and dips this ardent pop jam in invigorating classic soul power.
