In The Spotlight

Lauren Aquilina – “Empathy”

Growing up in Bristol, this half British, half Maltese singer and songwriter started releasing music at a very young age. She debuted with her EP “Fools” in 2012. Taking a break while battling depression for two years opened up new opportunities to write songs for some of her favorite artists such as Demi Levato, FLETCHER and Olivia O’Brien. She also got to open for Taylor Swift at one of her shows.

Diving into the sounds of female singer/songwriters of the 90s, her new single has a familiar feel about it. Starting with a vibrant guitar and a mellifluent rhythm accompanying her expressive vocals telling her reflective story, the track quickly bounces to life in an exuberant chorus. Both intimate and vulnerable, as well as bold and refreshing, this jam celebrates all aspects of sonic passion.
