Gizelle Smith – “Sweet Memories”

This uber-talented artist had a multi-cultural upbringing, being born to a Seychellois mother and an American father and growing up in Manchester, UK, which exposed her to soulful music from birth. She fronted the German band The Mighty Mocambos on their breakthrough album in 2009. Giving a progressive twist to classic soul and funk, she developed her own timeless sound for her solo-work.

Her single is an emotional rollercoaster, which will dig deep into your soul. While pouring her heart out, her fierce, emotive vocals effortlessly take the listener from soulful R&B to an explosive funky chorus. With stylishly layered harmonies and an extravagant arrangement of peppy percussion, plush guitar and fluid electronic FX, this is an exceptional, ear-catching musical delicacy.

Katie Herzig – “Beat Of Your Own”

Born into a musical family in California and now based in Nashville, this singer and songwriter graduated with a degree in journalism, but music was never far away. She was a founding member of the band Newcomers Home in 1997 and released her debut solo album “Watch Them Fall” in 2004. Her eclectic songs, ranging from country to pop, were also featured in several movies and TV-shows.

On her latest single she managed to find the perfect balance between a contemporary pop song and giving the listener a deliciously nostalgic 80s feel. Singing about being courageous enough to be true to yourself, it has an OMD reminiscent beat and a chorus with a Go-Go’s vibe, yet dipped in modern indie-pop glitz. This song certainly shows the radiance of her very own unique beat.
