In The Spotlight

Lake Malawi – “Lucy”

Founded by lead vocalist Albert Černý in 2013, this indie-pop trio from the Czech Republic released their debut single “Always June” in 2014. They played several festivals such as Rock For People and The Great Escape, and opened for the likes of The Kooks, Mika and Thirty Seconds To Mars. In 2019 they reached the 11th place at the Eurovision Songcontest in Tel Aviv with the song “Friend Of A Friend”.

And the Eurovision influences continue on their joyous new single. Co-written by Austria’s entry Cesar Sampson and co-produced by Norway’s JOWST, they douse elated indie-pop with their signature 80s-soaked sound. Inspired by the fun they had with a cardboard cut-out of host Lucy Ayoub in Tel Aviv, it’s the sparkling neon synths, bright guitars and a sunlit rhythm that make this a slick pop jam.
