In The Spotlight

Astronauts – “Kryptonite”

Hailing from Singapore, this five-piece Soul/Funk outfit consisting of Ben Jacob Lee, Benjamin Mah, David Andrew, Jonathan Tan and Eugene Lum, has been performing on the local gig circuit and played the well-known Stärker Music Carnival in Singapore. In January 2017 they released their debut single “Get Close”, followed by “I’m No Good” in December, as tantalizing tasters of their forthcoming EP.

With the orchestral funk of Earth, Wind And Fire-like vibes and Jamiroquai-reminiscent Nu-Funk sounds, their third single amalgamates funkiness throughout the decades. The groovy rhythm and fierce full-bodied horns are instantly gripping and with the sensuous streak of Ben Jacob’s smooth, soul-drenched vocals, this infectious earworm is energetic, dynamic and funkaliciously yummy.
