In The Spotlight

Wesley Bright & The Honeytones – “You Don’t Want Me”

Hailing from the funky rust belt town of Akron, OH, this honey-voiced soul brother has been on the music scene for many years. Initially backed by The Hi-Lites in 2011, he’s shared the stage with legends such as Otis Clay, Sly & The Family Stone and Tower Of Power. Now backed by The Honeytones, he takes his Al Green-dipped vocal chops and bridges the gap between classic soul and a modern sound.

Their debut single on their new label Colemine Records is a nectarous honeycomb of luscious and refreshing soul. Sounding like a forgotten gem from yesteryear, the peppy beat, seasoned guitar strums and vintage-soaked horns form a 60s-reminiscent groove, while his candy-coated, showstopping pipes add a mesmerizing, soul-induced sugar rush, making this tune a delicious sweetened snack.
