In The Spotlight

Judy Cheeks – “Crying In The Rain”

Being the daughter of gospel singer Rev. Julius Cheeks and the goddaughter of Sam Cooke, this Texan musical legend was born with music in her heart. At 19 she had her first recording produced by Ike & Tina Turner and she’s been releasing hits ever since, from “Mellow Lovin'” in the 70s to dance hit “Reach” in the 90s.  Exploring her faith, she also embraces her gospel heritage as a singer and as an author.

Only released as a single, this anthemic track is a musical amalgamation of her rich, decade-spanning career. Driven by a 90s bangin’ club beat, an invigorating 70s-style disco melody emerges and serves as a stage for her incredible vocals, which range from silky smooth soul to power-house disco with ease. This perky floor-filler celebrates all the musical goodness of the decades in one glorious jam.
