In The Spotlight

Brittany Howard – “Stay High”

As the frontwoman and guitarist for the four-time Grammy-winning band Alabama Shakes, this Nashville-based singer and songwriter has performed at Obama’s White House and duetted with legend Paul McCartney at Lollapalooza. However, she’s written many songs outside of the realm of the band and decided to assemble some innovative musicians and record them as a solo project.

This taster from her upcoming debut album “Jaime”, which will drop on September 20, is a buttery-smooth, Motown inspired soul stunner. With a stripped-back, organic instrumentation of a gentle bass, mellow percussion and cheeky bells, she uses her impassioned, vintage-dipped vocals to emphasize the importance of embracing simple joys after a long day’s work and molds a luscious soul gem.
